On August 16th at 12:00 noon, the public is invited to a youth led tour at Goose Spit to learn about the yellow sand verbena plant.  This Youth and Ecological Restoration (YER), Phase II project is made possible with funding from the Ministry of Children and Family Development and Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), Parks Department.

This is the third YER II project to study the yellow sand verbena plant, which is listed as a BC Species at Risk.  The youth participants will also compare data collected in 2020 and 2021 to aid CVRD staff with future parks management.   Biologist, Caroline Heim, will lead the 2024 research project to guide the youth and provide a report for the CVRD.

Two youth will lead an hour long public tour of the site to share their knowledge.  People wanting to attend will meet by the washrooms at Goose Spit. We look forward to you joining us at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 16th.  FMI contact YER Youth Support Worker, Graham Hilliar at grahamhilliar@gmail.com or 250-334-7566.
