Beginning in the 2021/2022 school year, Youth and Ecological Restoration (YER) was granted funding from Ministry of Education, Mental Health, which came through Comox Valley School District #71 (SD#71).

This funding was intended to address and increase mental health programs for students as a result of the COVID epidemic.  The YER purpose is to implement Ecological Restoration, Ecotherapy and Mentoring through experiential learning in the natural world.  Addressing student mental health issues through YER is a perfect fit for SD#71 finances.

The first year of SD#71 funding was so successful that YER has been granted funds for the 2022/2023 school year.  This report describes how the monies were allocated and contains letters of support from teachers, youth support workers and others within the Comox Valley school system.

We at YER are grateful for this ongoing support of our work.
